I have taken it upon myself to rage at the scrubs talking in Local Chat.

R.I.P spamming.

Meh. I'm expecting this to work for the first few weeks. Sooner or later they'll get a little bored with it and Local will return to what it once was...

It will be funny to see statistics on how many were banned from Kamadan and ToA though

aha another thread about the demise of spam! Woot

Sorry to those have read my post already elsewhere, but im so happy and excited that i want to repost it here too :P

*punches fist in the air and does a jig* Arighty!

THANKS ANet!

See...they do listen to us.. we asked for Anet to add a note about the crackdown on spam, to inform more people, in the other thread.. and they did it.. remember that guys

Being sensible and polite with solid reasonings when we present a request/solution to Anet...goes a long way to being listened to.

Once again, nice work to all ANet staffers who take the time and effort to read our forums, we appreciate it!

edit - lol... Evilsod...Evilsod... i can always rely on you to be negative even in the face of the most positive thing we have seen for a while!

If you make people retype the message each time it might cut down on a good part of the spam. As it is now it is too easy to spam.

I was in Droks American D1 yeserday and still saw loads of spam in All Chat. When I warned people that spamming could result in a ban, I was quickly corrected by someone saying that the "warning" only mentions a "mark" on your account. The spam continued. I haven't looked to see what it's like today.

It's good that people can chat in local now (though there still is some spam at least you can follow conversations). Now if only the people chatting in local weren't immature idiots trying to annoy everyone with how stupid they can be. At least, that's all I've seen when I turn local on. So local's staying off for me.

Such comments are so unfair! If I was at Anet and was dedicated to the GW community (which they all are), I would feel sad.

Sometimes it seems that Anet is listening so much to its GW community that they created great expectations, such that a lot of people often complains of not being listened to!

Let's celebrate, spammers must be sad!

I look forward to having actual conversations on a regular basis. Go cry in a corner, spammers.
total agreement here. although ive seen that people are arguing more. i think this has to do with they can actually follow an discussion in local now.. thanks anet

Kudos to Anet.

I've basically quit Gw at this point due to general dissastisfaction with teh direction that the game is headed in its updates... but I would have loved to have played ina game with out spam.

I can say today that Anet's handling of spam will be a primary factor on wheter I buy any products from them again. In game mods with the ability to ban spammers is what the game needed from the start but anet never did this for reasons that boil down to "we are too cheap, and since you also are too cheap [no monthly fees] you should accept that."

Does the spam ban continue to work? (the move of "wtb" to trade channel stopped spam for a day too) Are the banners human or bots? Is all spam banned (lfg spam seems necessary for the game, guild recruitment spam seems important to have too), or is trade spam the only spamm banned? I'd like to know the answers to these questions in the upcoming months.

The problem with spam isn't gone. It just got worse.

Kamadan, Kaineng and Lion's Arch now has a new spammer:
People who warn others about spamming in "all-chat". Flaming them and threatning they will report them as a spammer in "all-chat".
THESE are the people who ruin the game IMO!

By the way. Why are they looking for a conversation in a district that's full with traders anyway? It's not likely that there will be much conversation. Also with 140/150 traders who write in the trade-channel.
Further everybody knows by know that dis1 is a traders district and the chance of logging into dis1 isn't big when you play during the day/evening.

Well, let's hope that it's only because the new measures will take time to have a lasting effect. If those people get too many "marks", maybe they'll loose their accounts and then we'll have more peace.

Apparently, looking at other threads, it looks like it's starting to work.

As Mozilla Firefox once said "Take back the Local Chat"!

If people want to have conversations they should go to a quiet town or a guild hall. After all, it's a freaking online game; there should be trade spamming.

If people would stop crying about stupid things ANet could probably try fix what needs to be fixed.

hello dear spammer. ur argument is retarded but u surely know that better than anyone.
there's a trade channel for trading. use it. theres a whole chat for you to trade in....what more do u want? annoy ppl who are not interested in tradin and have turned the trade chat off?
local chat is for chit chat. thats what its meant to be.
in capital cities there's a market place (trade channel) and a socializing place (squares, parks, libraries or whatever).
and NO spam has never been limited to dis1....wherever there was ppl there was spam.....and communication betwen peers has been impossible creatin a sort of single player experience where the only intercation is sellin.
perosnally what anet did is too little to late...ppl who enjoy socializing ingame have allready quit the game....but at least hopefully new potential players will not be scared away like the ones who bought nightfall and quit the game on their first enterin of kamadan.

If people want to trade, they should use the trade chat or an auction site on guru. After all, it's an online game; people should be able to use local chat to chat in all of the main cities in game.

If spammers would stop crying about stupid things and use trade chat as it was mean to be use, ANet can then move on to fix whatever else that needs to be fixed.
